saturday, blokus competitioni have so much to say about today's competition.
well it started out bad. i got lost on my way there and my partner came late and the whole event was delayed. while i was waiting for the competition to start, i wanted to take out the PSP to play, but Parkash said," These kind of games are so much better than computer games. I just don't see why kids are willing to sacrifice their sleep just to kill some monster." and i decided not to take it out anymore.
when Jenny and i played our first game, which was a really rare tie, i didn't turn out as lousy as someone thought i would, someone who woke me up late, because he forgot.
so first game with ChinChin and Siti was an absolute rare tie, then the second i was extremely brutal to Jeremy and Mok. we won the second and went on to becoming the top eight teams. next game was with Jun Jie and another guy but i forgot who. we won by a bare one point. thankfully i saw through their plans otherwise it would have been 21 bonus points for them, which means they would definitely win. beat them and moved on to semi finals. semi finals was Team Mensa VS Team Mensa and Team LogicMills VS Team LogicMills. so Jenny and i lost. we played against Eunice and Soik for 3rd and 4th. and we came in third in the end, which isn't bad for a first-timer.
i made quite a lot of friends there today, and Jeremy and gang were so nice that they even invited me to join them for dinner. i guess i was so popular and respected because i only learnt the game last midnight, when i received the email from Lynn, asking me to represent Mensa.
i really didn't expect myself to go all the way to the semis although i was telling someone how i would. so the whole of the afternoon was spent at Kim Seng CC, which i didn't think was bad.
today i received invitations to join several clubs because they thought i was a real talent who only needed one night's experience to beat many others who had been playing for years. i didn't think it was true so i said give me time to think about it. but i'm considering spending my free afternoons at LogicMills, where there's Jeremy, Mark, Eunice, Soik, Tippy and many others.
Jenny was really nice to me. she paid for my registration fee and even asked me to keep the prize. and to think we only knew each other today!
after the whole thing, i went to meet family at centrepoint for dinner then shopping, followed by supper at east coast.
so now that i'm third, i owe somebody lunch at The Mind Cafe on the first day of school. well, that is if we both can make it. and last night/morning you weren't being a good friend, making me wait for you to come by at 12.08am when i actually told you to come before 10 because i didn't want to open the gates. and this isn't the first or second or third time you're coming over past midnight. well i guess this time you were delayed by 2 hours because you ran from the cabbie. i wonder when school starts would you still drop by in the middle of the night or would i still go over your place whenever i have nowhere else to go.
